Amazing Architecture
Our budding architects and engineers in Year 8 were challenged to design and construct a building. Their brief was deliberately wide, to see what sparked the curiosity and they were told they could use any materials they wanted to. Their 5R skills were tested to the full as they had to use their reasoning skills before they started their design.
Once their design was drawn, they had to reflect on it: deciding the best materials to use; how they were going to construct their model and most importantly where to start! Once they moved on to the “making” stage, they had to decide what equipment they needed to use in the workshop, the saws, sanders, drills, plastic moulders were used by them all depending on what materials their models were made from. There results were spectacular and very varied – well done Year 8
