Sport plays an enormously important part in the life of our school. We are immensely proud of our sporting tradition, not just for our success on the field but for our deeply held sense of sportsmanship.
All year groups in Prep have a double PE lesson each week covering gymnastics, fitness, Pilates, ball skills, athletics and cross country in blocks throughout the year, with the introduction of basketball and volleyball from Year 5. Weekly swimming lessons also continue up to Year 6, focusing on stroke development, stamina and aquathlon.
Children also have two afternoons of Games training in which, depending on the term, the boys play football, rugby and cricket and the girls play netball, hockey and cricket. These feed into competitive home and away matches and tournaments against other schools.
Teams and matches at all levels provide a structure for involvement and progress and the emphasis on personal best means that every child can experience the thrill of achievement and a wonderful start to their physical development and their life-long enjoyment of sport. Opportunities for individual sports, such as squash and tennis, are also available and encouraged.
