On Wednesday 23 August the Holmwood House equestrian team set off to compete at Hickstead for the National Schools Association grassroots showjumping championships that they had qualified for back in June. Excitement levels were through the roof as we entered the famous Hickstead grounds!
Our first class was the 60cm with our team consisting of Annabel B riding Granville, Millie S riding Saucy, Charlie P riding Holly and Bea A riding Prince Valentine. The team finished with a zero score to finish 8th overall. It was a very busy and competitive class and great for our team to experience competing at this level against schools from across the country.
There was time for a sandwich and our ponies to relax and recover before the 70cm class. The Team consisted of Annabel B riding Granville, Millie S riding Saucy, Charlie P riding Holly and Ottilie W riding Alfie. We finished the four rounds with 4 penalty’s to finish 7th overall out of 15 schools competing with Ottilie W coming second individually. A brilliant result and once again an experience we will never forget.
We would love to welcome any new members. We are hoping to enter showjumping teams on 2nd October. Classes start at 40cm ( can be assisted) and you have to be 5 years old on the 1st January 2021 year to compete.
