water play and painting

We have had lots of fun at Nursery working on a variety of different skills. The Babies have been developing their gross motor skills through lots of physical play and arts and crafts. In Bluebells the children have had lots of fun decorating their role play area and talking about faces, feelings and expressions. The Poppies have had a wonderful themed week, with lots of creative fairy activities – they have even had a visit by some fairies, who were pictured exploring the room and garden overnight

Babies
This last fortnight the Babies have been enjoying the dry weather in the garden. We have seen ice, fog and even sunshine which has meant lots of wonderful physical play opportunities to build our gross motor skills. We have also focused on some cards for Valentine’s day using paint and glitter which was such good fun. The children have loved singing nursery rhymes and doing actions. We have heard lots of numbers and counting being repeated during play and some naming of body parts.

Bluebells
Hello everyone. We hope you’re all well. Bluebells have been having a very productive couple of weeks within the room and garden. We have been developing our role play area, adding materials, lights and photos to give it more of a homely feel. The children have all loved seeing photos of themselves around the room and this has led them to talk about faces and feelings. We have been making different expressions, talking about what kind of emotions are shown which they have all been really good at. We have been looking around our garden, talking about nature and how spring is approaching. We are looking forward to soon planting some flowers and vegetables. Bluebells have all had a very keen interest in messy play and diggers these past two weeks. We have loved extending the play, listening to children’s ideas as well as incorporating our own themes for the week. We have been focusing on bugs and insects as well as counting. We have all loved making images with our fingers doing salt tracing and shaving foam play. We hope you have all had a good couple of weeks and enjoy the half term next week.

Poppies
The children in Poppies have enjoyed having fairies visit the nursery at night while we are sleeping. We have managed to capture pictures of the fairies exploring the room and garden. The children have then enjoyed participating in various fairy themed activities including making fairy cakes, fairy doors, fairy wands and even chose outfits to cut out and stick on their very own fairy.
