Much Ado About Nothing is the play that Year 6 have been studying in English this term, so to extend their understanding further they headed off to the Globe Theatre. The aim of the trip was to spark every pupil’s enthusiasm for, and engagement with, one of the most influential writers in the world.
In Global Studies Year 6 have been learning about the history of the theatre in Elizabethan London, developing an understanding of timelines and how the events of the period connected together. They have also used historical sources to investigate more about the period and the life and reign of Elizabeth I. This has helped them to put the play into historical context which has enabled them to gain a deeper understanding of the play (which is an important skill for GCSE).
The trip began with a fascinating guided tour around the theatre, then the children took part in an immersive Much Ado About Nothing workshop led by an actor from the Globe Theatre.Categories: News Category 1
