Nursery News – 24 June 2022

Nature at nursery has been a bit of a theme throughout nursery this last fortnight.  The Babies have been getting involved in #30dayswild, like Reception up at school.  There have been lots of nature themed activities and the lovely weather has meant we have all spent plenty of time outside bug hunting and creating wonderful nature art projects.

Babies

We have been busy celebrating the National Trust 30 days wild. This includes lots of nature activities and enjoying learning within the outdoor environment. Babies have enjoyed such a vast array of activities based around bees and their hives, including printing and sticking and trying honey sandwiches. We also enjoyed making our own mini beasts using wool and paint to print worms, using half an apple and pipe cleaners for spiders and practising our fine motor grip using cotton buds to decorate a snail.  The lovely weather has meant more time outside to bug hunt and look out for the summer insects flying by such as butterflies and ladybirds.

Bluebells

What a fun and fantastic two weeks we’ve all had in Bluebells! The weather has been really lovely which we’ve all made the most of by having an ice Lolly treat, watering plants, splashing in water, making play-dough, having fun in the sand and lots more! We have loved stories and using our fine motor skills. The children have all been excited to look for bugs and insects around us and have incorporated that in our play. We’ve hidden toy bugs in the sand to find, done some beautiful pictures and lots more fun activities. We hope that you’ve all had a lovely two weeks as well.

Poppies

What a busy week we had in Poppies! We celebrated Pride month by talking about different types of family and the importance of celebrating everyone for who they are. We also made lots of different rainbows and we even made a rainbow with water.

Because of the hot weather we had lots of water play and we enjoyed exploring ice to help us cool down.

For Father’s Day we talked about our daddies and what we love about them.

We also celebrated bugs and mini beasts week by making butterflies and we will make a bug hotel using different materials and resources.
