Year 5 were set the challenge to use on Lego WeDo set to make the ‘strongest’ robot with the biggest pulling power! We made an arena in the library where the robots would have to be coded with the most effective algorithm. Pupils had to think about air resistance, friction on the tyres, mass the amount of torque that is available the best cog ratios to get torque. The test was in the final challenge where pupils attached their robots to each other using a Lego chain and we had lots of fun doing tug of war battles.
