There was a gasp of excitement when Mr White brought in the Lego We Do kits to Year 5’s DT/STEM lesson this week. They have been challenged over the next couple of weeks to construct and code some lego robots using the kits, which will culminate in Holmwood Robot Races towards the end of term. They will have to draw on some of the skills they have been learning in ICT to help with their projects and the process will highlight key skills such as adaptability, creativity, teamwork and the application of algorithms. They will also learn how to use a variety of programming languages starting this week concentrating on block coding.
