Madame Mookherjee’s Marvellous Christmas Crêpe Cake Cuisine Challenge!

Ingredients   

(Makes approx 8 – 10 medium sized crêpes)

  • 100g plain flour
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 300 ml semi – skimmed / whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon sunflower / vegetable oil
  • butter for frying
  • greaseproof paper

Method (basic crêpes)

  1. Sift the flour and salt into a large mixing bowl.
  2. Make a well in the centre and add the eggs, milk and oil and whisk until the batter is smooth.
  3. Rest the batter in the fridge for 20 minutes.
  4. Heat up a medium sized frying pan to a moderately high heat, wipe with buttered kitchen paper.
  5. Ladle enough batter into the pan to coat a thin and even layer and cook for approx 45 seconds on each side until golden. 
  6. Slide the crêpe onto a plate and cover with a sheet of greaseproof paper (this will stop the crêpes from sticking to each other).
  7. Repeat until you have 8 – 10 crêpes.

 

Assembling and decorating your crêpe cake

This is where you can summon your Christmas creativity and make your cake as festive as you like. 

Each crêpe will need to be sandwiched with a sweet sticky filling (eg, chocolate spread / jam / cream / marshmallow fluff, etc).

There must be a minimum of 8 layers.

Once your cake has been assembled, you can decorate it. 

Some ideas…

  • You can add food colouring to your batter if you wish
  • You can use 30g cocoa powder / 70g plain flour 
  • You can use different fillings between layers
  • You can make your cake in any shape you like.
