Despite having to deal with lockdown and a period of absence from school, the Eco-Committee has worked tirelessly all year towards getting a Green Flag for the school. Following a whole school review, they identified three action points to work towards: composting food waste from the dining room and kitchen; growing our own vegetables and switching off lights in empty rooms. We agreed on an Eco-Code for the whole school of “Turn the switch, plant our own, save the waste to regrow our home” to reflect our targets. The compost bin is filling, the garden and raised beds are blooming and there has been a noticeable reduction in lights left on – all of this has led to the Eco-Schools charity awarding us our first Green Flag this week. Well done team!
