Seventeen members of the Eco Committee spent a productive couple of hours on Saturday morning planting tree saplings to form a new hedgerow. A field adjacent to the Pre-Prep school buildings and playground is being developed for houses and Leo P (one of the members of the committee) felt strongly that something should be done ‘to give back to the environment some of the hedges, plants and wildlife that may have been lost, by planting trees’. The school applied to the Woodland Trust for their free trees for schools offer and were delighted to receive 420!
An early start, good luck with the weather and determined pupils and parents meant the 420 saplings were planted in no time. Thanks go to Mr Cottrell, who provided expert guidance on how to plant and protect them.
Our proud Eco Committee has left a living legacy for future generations, as well as contributing to the UK’s 2050 carbon net-zero target and providing a habitat for our local wildlife.
