Two members of the Eco-Committee have been busily working on projects of great importance to them. To encourage more wildlife into his garden Stanley J has been building a bird table and Annie B has written this article to encourage us to turn off our car engines when we are parked.
Please turn your car engines off!
When people are waiting for their children to come out of school, they are leaving their car engines on. When it is cold they are putting their heating on and when it’s hot the air conditioning.
The problem is causing lots of harmful nitrates from the exhaust fumes in the air. This can cause asthma and damage to children’s lungs and brains.
Parents must turn their cars off. You could wear a jumper if it is cold and if it is warm, you could get out the car and stand in the shade, or open the car windows – at the moment you can’t do that because the engines are on.
Please also turn your engines off when you are waiting in the pick up/drop off queues.
Let’s make the school less polluted for everyone!
