As you can see from the wonderful photograph above, the children of Years 4 and 5 have been busy this week putting together their production of Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies. Sadly, as a result of Covid-19 restrictions, they will not be able to perform it on stage to a live audience but Mr Cortes and Mrs Mayhew have worked out a schedule of recordings this week to enable the singing to be recorded socially-distanced which will be dubbed over the action on stage, filmed separately. Once Mr Cortes has spent several dozen hours editing and splicing, we look forward to sending out the final product at the end of next week. My thanks to the production team for working so creatively with the children and to the children themselves for being such good sports, such willing performers, and such happy, lovely children.
We have had a busy couple of weeks in the admissions department. Last Saturday, we welcomed over 25 families to our Safari Treasure Hunt Taster Morning; socially-distanced in the glorious sunshine. I have met with lots of Prospective Parents, especially Year 5 parents from other schools, interested in joining Holmwood in Year 7 as their senior school choice. This is very exciting and encouraging as we continue to develop the 16+ model in the background. We will host a senior school taster day on Friday 11 June, so please let any of your friends know who may be interested in Holmwood as their senior school choice.
It was great to get such positive feedback from parents following Tuesday evening’s online ‘Meet the New Headmaster’ webinar. I was delighted to introduce Mr Ed Bond to the many parents who logged on and his response to your excellent questions was both heartening and enormously positive. Exciting times ahead! It may not be the best May Bank Holiday weather, but I hope you all have a lovely time with your families over the next few days.
