Dear Parents
Further to Mr Davies’ letter yesterday, I am delighted that the next Head of Holmwood House has been announced. I will be welcoming Mr Bond and his family on site over the weekend to show them around and to start the process of what I aim to be a very smooth transition over the next term. Mr Bond will be only the sixth Head of Holmwood in 100 years and I am confident he will work tirelessly to maintain and build upon the wonderful qualities we enjoy at our school into the next part of the it’s journey which, of course, involves the expansion to 16; a fantastic next step. I will put together a programme of visits for Mr Bond over the summer term so you have opportunities to meet him.
As we move towards the end of term next Tuesday, we look back to where we were a whole year ago. We went online for one week before the Easter holidays, and continued online through to the end of May, with Years R, 1 and 6 returning on 1 June and more pupils on the 17 June. That feels like a lifetime ago. The shared journey we have all experienced has enabled us to show our resilience as a school and as individuals, but, of course, it has presented us with many changes both educationally and personally. I know reflecting on the last year may be difficult for some people for a variety of reasons and my thoughts are with all of our community who have lost loved ones during this time. It is my hope that some of the restrictions in school may be relaxed over the coming weeks and months and that we can begin to operate in a more sociable manner. Fingers crossed.
Wishing you all a good weekend.
Alexander Mitchell
