It has been a real, genuine and thoroughly positive pleasure to have the children back in school this week. I had forgotten the joy that the sound of children playing creates! They have been superb in terms of reintegration to the school day and have clearly loved seeing their friends again and running around outside. Focus in the classroom has been very positive from the outset and we are proud of the resilience the children have shown throughout this experience.
I spoke to the Prep children in assembly about some of the important qualities at Holmwood which may have slipped a little. Our 3Cs (Care, Courtesy and Consideration) are part of the DNA of the school and it is important that we remember the small things in life, like ‘please’, ‘thank you’, eye contact and verbal greetings. We are beginning to see these habits improve again already.
I would imagine the children may be pretty tired this weekend; the range of things they have been doing this week has been extensive (including for some, Cross Country!) compared to their online experience. I hope they have a good rest ready for the next few weeks which we aim to be as productive as possible.
I was delighted to welcome the three shortlisted candidates for the Headship role today. They met with me and my senior team and had a tour of the school and nursery. Final interviews are next week and we look forward to seeing the white smoke at some point after that.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend,
