From the Headmaster…

Dear Parents

We had two very successful Virtual Open Events today using Zoom Webinars.  A similar number of attendees to actual open events signed up and we were delighted to be able to interact with them in online Q&A sessions.  Reception numbers for September 2021 are looking extremely good and only a few places remain.  We are keen to encourage families with children in Year 6 at other schools to consider Holmwood as a potential new senior school option and would be delighted if you could encourage them to get in touch through your positive word of mouth. Please point them towards our website or to email

I am astonished at the speed this term seems to be moving at; only two weeks to half term.  Next Thursday’s ‘off-screen’ day is designed to give the children a break from the rather intense experience they have every day and as part of Children’s Mental Health Week, this seems a great way to be creative and work in a different way or a range of different ways.  We look forward to seeing photographs and videos of their efforts.

You will have heard from the Prime Minister that no firm dates are in place yet for the children’s return to school but 8 March is a possibility.  I will, of course, keep you posted with any further news on this matter.  In the meantime, the children are making excellent progress online and we all need to work hard to keep them focused.

Wishing you a lovely weekend.

Best wishes

Alexander Mitchell
