Dear Parents
I spoke to the children today in assemblies about decorum (/dɪˈkɔːrəm/ behaviour in keeping with good taste and propriety). In Prep assembly, we also spoke about the word propriety (/prəˈprʌɪəti/ conformity to conventionally accepted standards of behaviour or morals). I related these words to our 3Cs and the Holmwood way of showing care, courtesy and consideration as being how we behave towards others at school and in our broader lives. The children responded very positively to the questions I asked and I hope took on board the gentle reminder that it is everyone’s responsibility to be considerate to those around us, especially at particular times, such as queuing up for lunch, waiting for the teacher to arrive, moving about the school and so on. I am always very proud of how Holmwood children behave and the values they develop as young people. I hope they will discuss decorum with you this weekend as I requested them to do so.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
Best wishes
