On Monday, all of the Year 3 children took part in the annual Year 3 Reading Competition. This was a new challenge with children participating both at home and in school.
The judges – Mrs Bell and Mrs Talbot – reported that the children all read superbly, with clarity and expression. Seven finalists were chosen, Lucinda, Leo, Hannah, Sam, Dominic, Winston and Lyra. On Tuesday afternoon Miss Prescott and Mrs Ellison-Oakes joined us via Google Meet for the Final, where the children had to read an unseen piece.
The finalists were all commended for their excellent reading skills in a very close competition, with first place awarded to Sam C, second to Hannah J and third to Lucinda B.
Congratulations and well done to all the children for taking part .
A few weeks ago we asked the children in Year 3 to write a thank-you letter as part of their English lesson. Leo P chose to write to the housekeeping team at Colchester Hospital, and they kindly wrote back!
