From the Headmaster….

Dear Parents

At the end of another incredible week, I am continually impressed by the resilience and energy of our children.  They have taken the new normal in the strides in such a Holmwood way and we are all so pleased to see the quality of their work – week in, week out.

You will know from my emails that we are in a position to welcome more children back to school next week and the following week and preparations are in hand to make this transition as smooth as possible.  Whilst school will not be the same as it was before lockdown, the children in Years R, 1 and 6 who have been back this past two weeks have really enjoyed their experiences.

As we look ahead to welcoming more children into school, I would ask a few things from all parents of returning children ;

  • please make sure you have read everything very carefully;
  • please explain it all to your children; especially the aspects of social distancing, hygiene, respecting zones, etc;
  • thirdly, please reiterate to the children that these are unprecedented times and that we expect all behaviour and attitudes to work to be as close to perfect as possible; the staff will not have time to deal with children who are not respecting the guidelines.

I am sometimes asked by parents how they can help the school. Well, we could do with some help in spreading the word to prospective families about the benefits of a Holmwood education. In the context of Covid-19, as we look to spread the word to prospective families, we face obvious challenges in helping them learn about our school through open mornings, meeting our children, attending events and the full range of opportunities to understand what Holmwood is all about. We would therefore really appreciate it if you felt you could advocate for us to any and all who might be interested in securing a place in a school – this could be on social media or directly via word of mouth. We are able to offer prospective parents a number of virtual opportunities to get to know the school under the current circumstances. Please direct friends and family to register for this experience by emailing Abigail Wills, our Admissions Registrar, on admissions@holmwood.house.

Thank you, in advance.

With best wishes
