From the Headmaster….

Posted: 27th March 2020

Dear Parents

I spoke to the children today in assembly about the school being very quiet, a bit eerie and rather surreal. I shared some photographs of the empty site and reminded them that our school is not a set of buildings, but a community of people.  Despite being spread across North East Essex, our community is feeling very much an entity.  The children’s response to the new learning experience has been excellent and hats off to mums and dads at home for supporting the children’s learning. However, my greatest plaudits this week go to the staff for their tireless dedication, creative planning and superb delivery; not to mention the high levels of mastery of IT they have demonstrated! In addition to the virtual staff, we have had a small team of real live staff looking after, and ensuring continuity of education for, our key workers’ children.  Thank you to them all.

I hope you are all able to enjoy some family time over the Easter break, enforced as it is.  Do keep in contact with me if there are changes of circumstances; I will be checking my emails daily.

Term starts on Monday 20 April and a new timetable will be published before then which will take into consideration some of the feedback we received via the Parent Reps.  In particular we will align breaks and lunchtimes for children across the whole school as well as try to give some more structure to the independent learning slots.

With best wishes

Alexander Mitchell
Headmaster
