This week has seen the official beginning of the Christmas season at Holmwood House with the sparkling performances on the Jubilee Hall stage earlier today. The Rs and 1s were joined for the first time by our Pre-R children to produce a wonderful extravaganza of Nursery Rhymes and Christmas cheer. The 2s and 3s raised the bar in the afternoon with a thrilling show, demonstrating their skills and talents in singing and acting. My enormous thanks to the team of teachers and assistants who steer and cajole their children through weeks of rehearsals led by our Director, Frances Mayhew and our Director of Music, Alvaro Cortes. Wow! Our children are lucky to have these wonderfully talented people around them.
We look forward next week to our Christmas Concert on Friday 6 December at 7.00pm featuring our musicians from Years 4-8. It promises to be a great evening.
Our Year 7 & 8 pupils completed their assessments this week which are designed to give them an opportunity to demonstrate their learning as part of the Holmwood House Certificate. They have approached these summative assessments with calm maturity. Well done.
Following the recent launch of Spelling Frame and Times Table Rock Stars, we launched the Stretch & Challenge Activities pages on the website – currently up to Year 4. These initiatives are designed to give pupil’s opportunities to take their learning further; to develop independence; and to encourage academic rigour. Do check out the website page here.
With best wishes
