Your children have had the most wonderful Space Week over the past 5 days! The assemblies have been a real highlight as well as the range of external and internal exhibits ranging from the Astrodome, Virtual Reality, Rocket Launching, and so on. The week came to an amazing conclusion today as we gathered the children together in the Jubilee Hall to watch and listen to a brief message of support from Major Tim Peake, the first British European Space Agency astronaut. His personal message to Holmwood House can be seen on our Facebook and Twitter feeds. My sincere thanks to Mr Kershaw who has led the Science Department staff (Mr White, Mr Cook and Mrs Bradbury) in a week of exciting ventures along with Mrs Bell who led in the Pre-Prep. Lots of people have contributed to the success of the week, not least the ‘actors’ in the annual ‘Whodunnit’.
We look forward to welcoming a new member of the front office team on Tuesday next week. Jane Sadler will be at the reception hatch and answering the phones and emails from 10am each day through to 6.30pm to complement the superb jobs done by Abigail and Fi. I will be in touch with you later this term regarding our communications processes and the improvements we are planning. This is a good opportunity to publicly praise all our wonderful frontline staff including Mrs Reynolds and Mrs Leigh in the surgery.
Last night’s pre-tour concert by the Chamber Choir in St Albright’s CHurch, Stanway, was a real treat. Mr Cortes, our Director of Music, has worked tirelessly with the 9-13 year olds who, next week, will perform in Reims Cathedral as well as the Madeleine Church in Paris. We look forward to hearing all about it. Bon chance! Bon voyage!
I hope everyone has a lovely, if a little chilly, Bank Holiday Weekend!
With best wishes
