Year 3 Kandinsky

Year 3 looked at the artwork of Vasily Kandinsky, particularly the pieces where he expresses his emotions through abstract art. He used colour and shape to respond to feelings and music. The children listened to some music, painting what they saw, felt and heard.

Year 1 – Town Mouse & Country Mouse

In Art, the children drew a picture of their house, and then painted it. We read Town Mouse and Country Mouse in Literacy and discussed the differences between the town and the country in Global Studies. They wrote about their house and the area in which they live for English.

Year 3 Art – Warhol

In art this week the Year 3 looked at the work of Andy Warhol, they took a virtual tour of the Tate Gallery before looking specifically at prints by Andy Warhol, specifically the very famous ones of Marilyn Monroe. The children created portraits of themselves in the style of Warhol’s Marilyn.

Year 3 Art – Matisse

In Art this week Year 3 looked at the work of Henri Matisse, specifically his piece called Icarus. The children created their own pieces of artwork in the style of Matisse’s Icarus using the idea of paper templates and stencilling. I’m sure you will agree they all created stunning masterpieces!

Year 2 Christmas Art

This week, Year 2 have enjoyed creating their Christmas cards in art. Taking on a winter trees theme, the children created a snowy landscape using different coloured paper, combined with paint. We think you will agree that the finished results are fantastic; well done, Year 2!

Year 5 Clay Portraits

Year 5 used the medium of clay to create a portrait. and this week’s challenge was to colour it with glaze. The challenge being that glaze requires 3 layers for the colour to be at its best and the colour does not show until it has been ‘fired’ in the kiln at an intense heat.

Year 4 Art

This week Year 4 journeyed further into Surrealism by way of Monoprinting. Their three chapter story was portrayed with a simple line drawing on a piece of paper, this paper was then carefully placed onto a layer of ink. Year 3 Art

Year 3 art considered the Tsunami. The wave that was created used a stencil. In Jackson Pollock style, they splattered wet paint on dry paper for the sky and wet paint onto wet paper for the wave. The difference in the effect was enjoyed by all. See more photos in our Photo Gallery.

Year 2 Art – Seascapes

Year 2s’ Land Ahoy project went sailing on a rough and windy day this week. After studying one of Van Gogh’s expressive seascapes, they experimented with similar colours and thickened paint using glue and sand.
