Senior Element matches

In Element matches this week, Years 7 & 8 played Ultimate Frisbee and Mat Ball. This was a very competitive tournament between the Elements. The overall winner was Water, closely followed by Air, then Land. Everyone played really well, with 100% effort. Well done, everyone. James S & Olivia R

Year 8 Digesting Science

Year 8 have been looking at enzymes used in digestion. Not to be content with theoretical learning, they insisted on applying their learning to a real life situation. Pancakes! They seem to have enjoyed learning about their enzymes just as much as using them in their digestion!

Year 7 & 8 Sport

Year 7 PE

Year 7 pupils demonstrate the Leadership aspect of the Holmwood certificate, they have been put into teaching groups and are responsible for delivering hockey lessons from warm ups to skills.

As part of the application process for Head of Element, several Year 8s were selected to address their respective Elements. It is always a great event where nerves are dealt with and pupils demonstrate courage in a public speaking situation. Each pupil is then allowed to vote for whom they feel should represent their Element….

Environmental News

Year 7 pupil, Jamie S, led by example by doing a litter pick around where he lives for the ‘Great British Beach Clean – Source to Sea’ campaign last week. Jamie picked around 10kg of rubbish, with a great deal of this being cigarette butts. The oddest thing he found was a coffee machine capsule….
