In Year 5 we are learning about the rainforests of the world and the history of chocolate We then used our persuasive writing skills and are creating advertising campaigns for our own chocolate bars. We have started designing and making our new chocolate bars with a range of ingredients and even designing packaging too.
The children in Year 5 had been curious about how angles worked in the real world. So they have been investigating angle types and how these are used in engineering. Bringing their maths into a real world setting.
Years 4 & 5 have started looking at space and the solar system this half term, with everyone’s wonder ignited by the exciting news and images of the Perseverance Rover landing on Mars in the last few days.
In Global Studies lessons this week we have been making some Viking Bling! We were learning about the importance of jewellery to the Vikings and then created our own brooches.
The pupils in Year 5 are learning about the Vikings and this week made Viking helmets, swords and shields.
Home learning doesn’t stop us from doing experiments in science. Today we were looking at different states and materials changing from solids to liquids by melting ice and making cornflake/crispie cakes using the ideas of melting and freezing. 3B did a great job of turning their kitchens into laboratories; we even managed to do it…
This week, Year 5 started drawing together their learning about the Medieval Period by writing a play about a pilgrimage based on Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales.
Year 5 used the medium of clay to create a portrait. and this week’s challenge was to colour it with glaze. The challenge being that glaze requires 3 layers for the colour to be at its best and the colour does not show until it has been ‘fired’ in the kiln at an intense heat.
Year 5 To continue this term’s project, Year 5 used the medium of print to create a portrait of their character this week. Drawing onto a print block is very different to drawing on paper. The colour of the ink and paper chosen can create a different feeling with every print. Year 6 These pictures…
