Phase 2

Year 3 – Persuasive Language

Year 3 are looking at persuasive language. They started the lesson seeing if they could convince Mrs Bell to let them have 5 minutes extra break time. They gave a very good argument!  

Year 2 made a Wormery!

This week, Year 2 has been finding out about how some creatures are adapted to living underground. The highlight was the creation of a wormery by Mrs Watkins! The children look forward to finding out more about worms by making observations of them in their home.

Year 2 & 3 Art – Spring Flowers

The excitement of being back in the Art Room and evidence of spring beginning to emerge all over the school site, has really sparked some fantastic creations amongst the children this week. They have produced some spectacular spring pieces.

Year 3 Kandinsky

Year 3 looked at the artwork of Vasily Kandinsky, particularly the pieces where he expresses his emotions through abstract art. He used colour and shape to respond to feelings and music. The children listened to some music, painting what they saw, felt and heard.

Year 2 Making Tunnels

In science and technology, Year 2 were challenged to make a tunnel that either they or an object could travel through. They came up with some ingenious structures, of all shapes and sizes, using different types of paper. It was great fun, especially trying them out at the end!

Year 3 Outdoor Learning

To consolidate their Global Studies work about Divalli, as part of their Outdoor Learning, the Children in Year 3 were asked to create large Rangoli patterns using where possible natural materials. The children were extremely creative and resourceful using natural materials as well as chalk, paint and other assorted craft materials.

Year 2 Spring Walk

On Tuesday, Year 2 became detectives in search of signs of spring! They used their powers of observation in their outdoor environments and noted changes beginning to happen in plants and trees, birds and insects and the weather. Year 2 Maths

In maths this week, the Year 2 children have been hard at work learning about 2D shapes. We have been counting sides and vertices, looking for symmetry, sorting and making patterns. Everyone has been so enthusiastic and enjoyed all the practical activities.

Year 2 French

This half term in French, Year 2 have been learning about buildings, places and where people live as part of their wider curriculum theme of “Towers, Tunnels and Turrets” We discussed the Eurotunnel that links both our countries, the many beautiful Châteaux in France and of course, the most famous tower of all… Year 2…

Year 3 Social – Lockdown Art Lesson
