Edward Bond has been Head of Holmwood House since September 2021, and has over two decades of experience in teaching and educational leadership. Prior to Holmwood, Edward was Head of Lower School at Haileybury, where he taught for 20 years.
At Holmwood House, Edward brings a clear and compassionate vision for nurturing academic excellence, personal growth, and a lifelong love of learning in every pupil. A firm believer in the importance of holistic education, Edward is passionate about sport and co-curricular life. A keen sportsman himself, he enjoys coaching rugby and sees physical activity as an integral part of developing teamwork, resilience, and character in young people.
Educated at Wellington College, Edward went on to study History at Durham University, where he also completed his PGCE. He undertook a Master’s in Educational Leadership at the University of Bath. Edward’s experience extends beyond the classroom. He has served as a senior examiner in History for the International Baccalaureate (IB) and was a member of the IB Curriculum Review Committee.
He has also worked with the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI), giving him valuable insight into best practice and school improvement across the sector.
